The Two Witnesses Preaching; Dyson Perrins Apocalypse, about 1255-1260. Additional Info:In this section of the Apocalypse, two witnesses in sackcloth are sent to earth to prophesy for 1,260 days. The angel tells Saint John: "If any man will hurt them, fire will come out of their mouths and will devour their enemies." (Apocalypse 11:5) The artist represented the witness on the left attacking his enemies; they fall over dead before him. On the right, the other witness successfully convinces his listeners with his prophecies. Following a strong medieval tradition, the witnesses were labeled "Elyas" (Elijah) and "Enoch" at a later date.
