The Fifth Vessel: The Slandering of God, about 1255-1260. Additional Info:The illuminator depicted the seat of the beast as covered with a blue cloth. The angel pours out the darkness from a vessel. The wicked, upon whom the darkness is falling like a curtain, gnaw their swollen tongues, even as they blaspheme God above because of their pains. Quote Text:The fifth angel poured out its vessel upon the seat of the beast, and its kingdom became dark, and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain: and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and wounds, and they did not do penance for their works.
